Resident starts petition over cabbies

A man from Inverness has started a petition calling for steps to be taken to tackle the disruption he says is caused by taxi drivers on the area's streets, according to a report.

The Aberdeen Press and Journal reports that David Scott claims that cabs in the area cause congestion on Academy Street as they queue to use the taxi ranks in the road.

Mr Scott claims that some taxi drivers perform U-turns across the road and ignore the signs forbidding cars from turning right into Inverness Station.

Now, Mr Scott has set up an online petition.

Meanwhile, in Coventry, taxi drivers have taken to the city's roads to protest over the number of licences that the local council have given out.

Alias Yousef, the chairman of the Coventry Taxi Drivers Association, tells the Coventry Telegraph that taxi drivers in the area are frustrated and want action to be taken.

"We wanted a meeting with the council but they refused so this was the way forward," he claims.
